Salud Tiene Sabor: A Model for Healthier Restaurants in a Latino Community


Independently owned restaurants participating in the Salud Tiene Sabor program at Mercado La Paloma, an ethnic foods marketplace, in South Los Angeles are responding to the childhood obesity crisis by labeling menus and providing nutrition information to patrons. This American Journal of Preventive Medicine article describes how calorie information impacted customers’ purchasing decisions, awareness of calorie information and how supportive restaurant owners were of the program.
